That depends on what something is. A procedure as invasive really as restringing is something that we recommend maybe every 10 years or so. As far as internal and external cleaning we do recommend that this is something that you have done professionally at least on a yearly basis. It really depends on the environment that the piano is in and how often you clean that area. We know that some companies will talk about more extended spans between cleaning services. It’s just not how we see it.
Does A Piano Need To Be Tuned Even If I Don’t Use It?
The thing is if you don’t tune your piano for a long time then try to tune it you’ll get a lot of broken strings and other issues. Obviously, if you try and play it there is a good chance that you won’t get optimal sound. In some extreme cases, the sound can be way off. Also not turning your piano and allowing all of these things to potentially happen is going to make your piano lose its value. If you don’t care about any of these things then we could say that you don’t have to do anything.
Best Ways To Reduce The Wear On A Piano
The best ways that we could point to, to be able to actually reduce wear on a piano is to keep it in a room with a constantly humid atmosphere. You also want to make sure that the temperature in the room is constant. Keeping a piano at around 65 to 70 degrees is going to be the range that you are looking for. You can achieve this by having proper heating and cooling facilities in your home and maybe a humidifier.
